Fort Bend ISD Names 2026 District Teacher of the Year Finalists

Fort Bend ISD Names 2026 District Teacher of the Year FinalistsIn a celebration of excellence in education, Fort Bend Independent School District (ISD) has announced its top teacher finalists for the 2026 District Teacher of the Year award. Ten exceptional educators have been selected from across the district, with five representing elementary schools and five representing secondary schools.

Elementary Finalists
The elementary finalists are a testament to the dedication and passion of teachers in shaping young minds. Kanika Griffin, a first-grade teacher at Cornerstone Elementary, believes that teaching is not just a profession but a calling to serve children during their most formative years. Lauren Luna, an art teacher at Heritage Rose Elementary, emphasizes the importance of inclusive learning environments that cater to diverse learners. Rashidi Younger, a special education teacher at Hunters Glen ELC, has always been driven by his desire to work with students who need extra support. Jocelyn Cuchapin, a second-grade teacher at Jordan Elementary, focuses on student-centered learning and hands-on experiences. Fawzia Elsaadi, a special education teacher at Sullivan Elementary, draws from her own experiences as a parent navigating the special education system to create a supportive environment for families.

Secondary Finalists
The secondary finalists showcase the impact of dedicated teachers on high school students. Jeff Johnson, band director at Clements High School, prioritizes his students' personal growth and well-being alongside their musical development. Robert Archer, theater arts teacher at Kempner High School, builds relationships with his students to create a supportive learning environment. Andreana Grall, science teacher at Sartartia Middle School, advocates for growth-oriented learning that values individual potential. Shenoa Cramer, theater arts teacher at Sugar Land Middle School, empowers her students to become their best selves. Debay Woldeyesus, career and technical education teacher at Travis High School, focuses on authenticity, access, and agency in his teaching philosophy.

The selection of these finalists is a testament to the exceptional talent and dedication of Fort Bend ISD's teachers. As the district moves forward with the judging process, it is clear that these educators are making a lasting impact on their students' lives. The ultimate winners will be announced at the Teacher of the Year banquet in April, but for now, let us celebrate the outstanding work of these finalists and the difference they make every day.
